Social media management can be very time consuming. You need to publish posts; you need to answer customer queries, engage with your community and find prospective clients to get leads. How can you do this without being on your phone or laptop all day? Here are four tips that you can start implementing straight away.
1. Automate: For an effective social media marketing, you need to show up every single day. Social media marketing is a 24/7 business. This means you need to have a constant stream of content to push out. Use scheduling tools such as Hootsuite, Buffer or SmarterQueue. Everyone has different priorities so it is a very personal choice when it comes to selecting one of these tools. Luckily they all offer free trials; so you can decide which one to go for. Once you set it up, you can control all your accounts from one dashboard. Getting ahead on scheduling, will give you more time to actively engage with your community. 2.Find great content: There are some amazing content aggregation tools out there. Some of these can also be integrated with the scheduling tools mentioned above. My personal favourites are Flipboard, Feedly,Buzzsumo and Google Alerts. Then it is a matter of selecting which content to share.Remember; you don't want to promote your business all the time, share valuable content that people will want to read, engage and share. 3.Engage,engage,engage: Use every single opportunity to engage with your followers. Don't let comments go unnoticed, reply any queries you receive and look out for opportunities to talk with prospective clients. 4.Build relationships and leads will follow: It is also very important to build relationships with other businesses from your industry, local businesses, prospective clients, influential people, journalists, bloggers and so on. Twitter and Instagram are amazing platforms, you can virtually talk with anyone on these channels. If you are authentic and helpful, people will be interested in talking to you, engage with your content and you will see business results as well. Do you have any other tips that work for you? Effective social media marketing is demanding: You need to put in effort and time. In return,we all want to see the impact of this activity. But what is the best way of measuring social media success? Too many people focus on the number of likes or followers. Yes, follower growth is a criteria but not on its own. There are three other measures to monitor: 1.Engagement: How many people engage with your posts? Are they commenting, sharing, clicking on your posts? You can have a lot of followers but if they are not engaging with your posts, you are marketing to wrong people. 2. Reach Reach will give you a good understanding of how attractive your social media content is to your target audience. If your followers engage with your content, their activity is usually shared with their connections, which increases your page’s reach. 3.Website traffic Did people visit your website as a result of social media marketing? The best tool to track this is Google Analytics and you need to embed the Google Analytics code to your website. All the social media platforms have extensive data that can give you very valuable information about your social media marketing. It is really important to check these weekly. Please do let me know in the comments if you need any more information about the insights that you can obtain from the platforms. Is Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat, YouTube, Linkedin or Twitter the best place to put your marketing budget? It all depends on your brand and where your audience is hanging out.
Facebook is by far the most popular network. People turn to Facebook and Twitter to engage with brands, to ask questions or to get basic information about your business. With Facebook advertising you can target people who don't follow your page or people who don't know about your products/services. If you are a local business, you can target the people in your area. The short answer is, if you are a business you must have a Facebook page! If you have a B2B business, you need to be on Linkedin. You can reach decision makers and connect with potential clients. You can publish articles on Linkedin Pulse to establish yourself as an expert in your industry. You can use it for networking. With Linkedin ads, you can specifically target they type of people you want to reach. Twitter was launched in 2006, has approximately 300 million users. Brands use it to inform their customers of events, sales, business updates, and more. You can use Twitter to build relations with prospective clients, influencer marketing, customer services and driving traffic to your website. Instagram has grown a lot in the last couple of years. If you have beautiful images and videos, this is where you need to be. It is an amazing platform to create brand awareness and to utilise influencer marketing. If you want to target a younger audience, you need to be on Snapchat. Use Snapchat to increase your brand awareness and engagement level with your target group through highly creative and visual content. Pinterest is great for businesses who target women. If you have lots of visuals, if you have a food, fashion, travel or craft business, it makes sense that you use Pinterest to reach your audience. Youtube is great for DIY, craft and food businesses. But you need to able to make quality videos to be able to get leads from the platform. If you are not outsourcing your social media, I recommend you choose two platforms to start with. Each platform is different and to get it right you need to craft each post carefully. Social media is about quality. Doing two or three channels really well consistently, will bring you more conversion and leads. If you need you need help with picking the right platform for your business, please get in touch. |
